Augmented Visions of the NatureVerse by [dNASAb]
Through Jan 01, 2025
From: 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Engage with a thought-provoking blend of art, technology and environmental commentary at The Betsy. The innovative installation, Augmented Visions of the NatureVerse by [dNASAb], invites visitors to engage with cutting-edge visual storytelling that explores the the hidden impacts of pollution on marine life. Presented as part of the City of Miami Beach’s No Vacancy Program, the Jorge Pérez Family Foundation CreARTE Program, and The Betsy Writers Room, this free installation is available for public viewing from November 25 through December 31.
The centerpiece of the installation is The Orb, a spherical structure transformed into a translucent water droplet. Projected onto this form are AI-assisted animations that reveal an imagined microscopic ecosystem, blending reclaimed plastic waste with marine life forms like krill and plankton. Through the seamless integration of sculpture and artificial intelligence, the work highlights the intersection of synthetic and natural elements, shedding light on how pollution subtly alters marine ecosystems.
In addition to the outdoor projections, which will light up The Orb on select dates after sunset, Augmented Reality Activated Stills will be displayed as a window installation at The Betsy from November 21 through January 1, 2025. This interactive element provides visitors with a deeper exploration of microplastics and microorganisms, offering a thought-provoking extension of the visual experience.
Through the installation, dNASAb uses AI-generated life forms and environmental infomercials to challenge viewers to reconsider their relationship with nature and confront the hidden impacts of pollution. His work invites reflection on the invisible world of microplastics and the urgent need to address environmental sustainability.
